  • Island Time   ( 1 Article )

Island Time is one of the longest (if not the longest running) trop rock radio shows in the country. The host Dennis King (or DK the DJ) was initially inspired to do the show by a love of Beach Boys and Jimmy Buffett music. Over the last 17 and a half years , the style of music (in its many forms) has grown by leaps and bounds with independent trop rock artists all over the US. Most are based in Florida, and California, but there are many others scattered across the country. There are also trop rock festivals happening somewhere in the country year round.

Island Time also features music that comes out of our own island, South Bass or as it is best know, Put in Bay, OH.
In 2014,  the Island Time Radio show won the award for "Radio Show of the Year" in the Trop Rock Music Association's annual award ceremony in Key West, Fla. The show has been nominated for the same award every year since 2009.
If you look up "trop rock music" in Wikipedia, DK and Island Time's beginnings are mentioned in the history section.
The show airs live on WBWC on Mondays, and encores on five other web & radio stations. All the info can be found on our official web site at
